1.   ETTA Insurance Cover

Members will be aware that the ETTA registration fee includes an amount to indemnify members against third party claims.

Attached as img003.pdf is copy of the insurance certificate. Please note that this does not provide cover against personal injury unless you are claiming, as a third party, against those covered by this insurance. Clubs/members should make their own arrangements if they require additional or specific cover over and above that provided by the ETTA.

Please note that a proposed rule change ie M5  add "No team may play in any one match (other than in those in which handicap scaling is applied ) more than two players with an initially allocated handicap exceeding -10 at the start of a season or at time of registration "which was NOT CARRIED at the meeting but is not recorded.

The minutes will be amended to include this omission prior to the next AGM.

News item received from
League Secretary on 21/12/10

At the League committee meeting on 6th Dec 2010 it was agreed that club secretaries and members should be made aware of two new ETTA rules together with clarification of two existing rules and the dispensation offered re league match arrangements in the first half of the season These are as follows:-

 ETTA

1      Players may not change their bats during a game (a game consists of three or five sets) unless it is so badly accidentally,  damaged as to prevent it's further use.

2      Bat covering rules are now extended down to local league level . The authorised list of rubbers is issued twice per year and comes into force six months after issue.

From our league viewpoint this means that the September 2010 list comes into force in April 2011.  The list may be viewed on the ETTA website   Presently we await issue of hard copy to the League.

 EXISTING RULE CLARIFICATION

1  Service    It is the players responsibility to serve in such a manner so that the umpire can visually verify that the service is legal from his adopted umpiring position.

The onus is upon the player and the umpire is entitled to refuse a request to change his position during a game.

2  Existing rules allow an umpire to declare a let if a sudden external noise is of sufficient severity so as  to interfere with the players concentration  Additionally players are not allowed to generate such noise either by shouting or the stamping of feet  whilst the ball is in play Umpires in the first instance should call a let and warn the offender about future conduct. Any reoccurrence should lead to the loss of the point and if persistent to disqualification from that game.

The Great Yarmouth & District Table Tennis League is affiliated to the English Table Tennis Association (ETTA) and all league matches are played 11up. Tournaments during the season may either be 11up or 21up.

Message from Peter Smith regarding Kings Church venue on 27/08/10

It is requested that all 1st and 2nd Division teams arrive at Kings Church by 7.00pm and matches commence at 7.15pm. It is also requested that every effort is made to play on 2 tables when available so that the matches can be completed before 10.00pm so that the premises can be vacated at 10.00pm. The reasons for these changes are that juniors are played in all Kings Church teams and they require transportation. For insurance purposes the venue has to be supervised, checked and locked up by designated members of the Church. These key holders are not prepared to lock up after 10.00pm because they normally have venue / player issues to sort out afterwards and they have a early start for work the next day.
